Private Music Lessons – Dubuque location
We offer weekly lessons for students of all ages (including adults) in our
Dubuque location. Lessons are typically 30 minutes and are taught by
qualified teachers. The teaching studios are located in the store. We offer a
comfortable waiting area for parents and students which includes Wi-Fi internet
access. Parking is convenient.
Lessons are available for piano, voice, percussion, band and orchestra

Cherie Dirks
I am Cherie Dirks - married 33 years, mother of five, home school mom, violinist and private music lesson teacher.
My husband Dave and our family, are relatively new to the Dubuque area having relocated from southwest Minnesota this past summer (2011).
We have five children, two of whom are currently 3rd year students at Emmaus Bible College, two daughters in 10th and 12th grades,
and one son married this summer and living in Minnesota.
I am a classically trained violinist and private music lesson teacher with over 35 years of teaching experience.
I grew up in the Minneapolis area and started violin at 9 years of age through our local public school string program.
I also studied violin privately through high school and continued on with my music studies at the University of Minnesota, Mpls.
After marrying Dave in 1978, I completed my music degree at Mankato State University with a personally designed major in
Violin and Viola Performance and Pedagogy. While completing my degree, I also attended the Suzuki Teacher Training Institute
at Stevens Point, WI, completing Suzuki teacher training through Violin Level 8.
Prior to starting our own family, I developed a strong Suzuki program in Worthington, MN working with upwards of 60 young violin students.
Over the years of raising our family , I have continued my playing through church worship and community musical events and have maintained
a handful of students over the years , including helping our own children to learn an instrument or two.
Although my primary instrument is violin, with viola being a comfortable “cousin”, I also play and teach other instruments.
As a young person I studied piano for many years and have played guitar all my life.
Recently I acquired a mandolin (fingered like a violin) to add to my instrument menagerie. I come from a very musical family and I love to play and teach.
Music is such a vital part of our lives. Those who learn to play music add a wonderful dimension to their lives and to the lives of those around them.
It is a joy for me to share and invest my God-given gift and ability into the lives of others.

We work with music teachers throughout our 4 state area and are here to
help you connect to the one who is right for you. We can help you find
a teacher for almost any instrument. These teachers work independently and all
communication regarding the cost of the lessons and times available will
need to be made directly with them. Please use the form below to contact us

Due to limited space constraints we currently only offer lessons for guitar in our
Decorah store. Time slots are very limited. Our Mason City store has 2 studios and
they are currently accepting students on guitar only.
